Luntiang Sarangani Program 

The province’s flagship program for environmental development and management is designed to generate participation, mobilization, and involvement in people’s effective and efficient management of the environment base of the province.

Below are its major components:

Luntiang Sarangani Food Security Program (LS-FSP), is a provincial adaptation of National Food Security Program, which aims to enhance the productivity and access to food of communities.

Luntiang Sarangani Coastal Resource Management Program (LS-CRM) is the maintenance of the quality and integrity of the coastal ecosystems, thus sustains the flow of resources thru collective community protection and preservation efforts. It concentrates on sustainable development of the coastal-marine and inland water ecosystem and resources.

Luntiang Sarangani Commercial Crops Development Program (LS-CCDP2) is a resource-based, community-focused, and cost-effective project designed to promote the province’s agroecology resource zones for commercial and high value crops.

The following are other sub-sectors of the Luntiang Sarangani Program:

Luntiang Gusali is the beautification, cleanliness, and planting of trees and ornamental plants near buildings.

Luntiang Dagat is the development of coastal zone thru the rehabilitation and planting of mangroves and planting of trees in riverbanks, lakes, and streams.

Luntiang Lumad - the development of land ancestry and culture preservation of indigenous cultural communities is a project, which gears toward enhanced culture appreciation among indigenous peoples (IPs).

Luntiang Tahanan is the beautification, cleanliness and planting of trees, and ornamental plants including backyard gardening. The project is taking the lead in vegetable production in support of the Provincial Nutrition Program.

Luntiang Kalusugan promotes the importance of Health, Nutrition, and Sanitation that has been found to be inter-related to waste management including the importance of backyard gardening as preferred source of food sustenance to commercial ones.

Luntiang Kapayapaan is the reforestation and land development of areas occupied by threat groups by providing them with agricultural supplies and other agri paraphernalia.

Luntiang Paaralan is the establishment of scion grove and school mini- orchard including agricultural nurseries. It also involves the greening of schools.

Luntiang Kapatagan - a development project inclined toward the development of plain lowland areas to improve food production.

Luntiang Bundok is an environmental initiative focusing on the reforestation of denuded hills, forests, and preservation of wildlife.

Luntiang Daan is a project that promotes the planting of ornamental flowers and trees along roads or highways.

Environmental Sanitation Program controls environmental-related diseases such as diarrhea, typhoid fever, skin diseases caused by filthy environment and contaminated water.

The Provincial Forest Land Use Plan provides the framework for the province’s long-term vision for sustainable development and well-managed resources indicating particularly the appropriate use of forestlands and watershed.

Upland Development Program (UDP) gears on the development and sustainability of upland resources to address the communities’ subsistence needs through appropriate agricultural technology while maintaining balance between the upland farmers and its immediate environment.

Water Resource Management Program embarks on and promotes the “concept of stakeholder” among the populace for systematic development and management of water resource base such as the watershed, rivers, streams, aquifers, and the like.

The Environmental and Natural Resources Accounting Project is designed to develop and institutionalize management-oriented information systems for the proper management and utilization of the province’s environment and natural resources.

Integrated Solid Waste Management Program (ISWMP) is the complementary use of a variety of waste management practices for safe and effective handling of municipal solid waste with the least harmful impacts on human health and the environment.
