The
Key Development Area (KDA),
a social services institutionalized at 56 piloted
barangays is a program similar to Social Reform Agenda
(SRA), where disadvantaged families, sectors in the
communities are empowered by developing their capabilities
to undertake productive activities, gain access, and
manage the delivery of basic services.
Community Outreach
Program
addresses indigent constituents’ inaccessibility to
health services thru establishing network with the
Tagum-based Davao Regional Hospital, a tertiary hospital
of surgeons who specialize in major and minor operations.
The surgical mobile team visits the province for a
surgical outreach annually.
Nutrition Program
gears toward proper nutrition, which is important to the
growth and development of the individuals particularly
among the vulnerable groups such as infants, preschoolers,
and women. There are four major nutritional disorders
affecting population: Protein Energy Malnutrition (PEM);
Vitamin A Deficiency; Iron Deficiency Anemia; and Iodine
Deficiency Disorders.
Food Borne and
Water Borne Diseases Control
deals with food and water borne diseases caused by virus,
bacterial, and parasite or a combination of the three.
These are transmitted from person to person via soiled
hands, food and water contaminated by human wastes. It has
three major components: Diarrheal Disease Control;
Outbreak Response; and Environmental Sanitation Program.
Child Health
Program
focuses on the services promoting health and continuous
growth of children. It has the four components: Acute
Respiratory infection/Pneumonia Control; Diarrheal Disease
Control; Expended Program on Immunization; and Nutrition
Program.
Maternal Health and
Safe Motherhood
deals with the nitty gritty on how to care for mothers. It
contains four areas: Family Planning; Maternal Care;
Nutrition; and Reproductive Tract Infection &
STD/AIDS.
Disaster
Contingency Management
deals with emergency or crisis management and intervention
to respond to the many issues and concerns brought about
by natural and man-made calamities.
Crisis Intervention
for Indigent Clients -
a program that seeks to address the needs of indigent
individuals or families thru emergency assistance and
referrals.
Special Program for
the Employment of Students (SPES)
provides indigent but qualified students to job
opportunities in the province during school vacation. It
is a national program supported by local government units.
Day Care Program
deals with the supervision of day care workers providing
access to basic education services to children, 3-5 years
old. It also oversees the evaluation and accreditation of
day care centers in the province.
Social Welfare
Development Program
promotes the general welfare of women; child and youth;
senior citizens and persons with disabilities; family and
community by providing them training and education for
them to become productive citizens and partners of
Sarangani.
Social
Mobilization Program
gears toward mobilization of community volunteers to
undertake development projects and activities for their
interests and benefits.
