Marlind,
whose name was a combination of his father’s and
mother’s name, Marcial and Linda was born in Kiamba
on September 22, 1951. He claims that he is first and
foremost an educator by choice, a politician by
accident.
His educational
background and experiences as an academician, having
taught in different schools and colleges in the
country for almost thirty years provide him the
impetus to come up with programs and legislations that
could provide and support for youth scholarship and
development programs, quality day care centers,
schools feeding programs and other non-tuition
activities, providers of non-formal education and
technical schools, Madrasa schools for our Muslim
learners and professional growths for teachers and
lastly the construction of a building that will house
a library and museum.
He also would
like to sponsor quality legislations that will meet
the needs of some seemingly neglected sectors: the
women, the elderly, family and children’s welfare
and the disable.
Hon. Marcelo
was among the first officials of Sarangani in 1993
being an Ex-Officio Member of the Sangguniang
Panlalawigan by virtue of his being the first PCL
President.
He was a
Municipal Councilor of Kiamba form 1992-1998. Then in
1999, he was appointed Executive Assistant to the then
Vice Governor Miguel D. Escobar. Now, he is back to
serve a term as Provincial Board Member.
