Following
the footsteps of his parents, Erwin Lopong Chiongbian
is the son of former Sarangani Congressman James L.
Chiongbian and former Gov. Priscilla L. Chiongbian,
whose visionary leadership prodded the development of
Sarangani.
Erwin, a blue
blooded Atenean during his elementary days, finished
secondary school at Baguio Military Institute and
finished his college at the University of Santa Clara,
USA. He also finished his Management Course at the
University of the East.
Before entering
politics, he served as president of the family-owned
Eastern Shipping Lines from 1963 to 2001. He is also
the president of Kling Plantation Company, Inc.
Congressman
Chiongbian is affiliated with different organizations.
He is the director of Filipino Shipowner’s
Association and member of the Association of
Foundations and Rotary Club of Metro Sarangani 2000.
Awarded as the
“Most Outstanding Neophyte Congressman for 2001,”
Erwin functions in various committees as vice chairman
for Committee on Transportation and Communication and
member of the Committee on Appropriation; Ways and
Means; Trade and Industry; Public Works; Banks and
Financial Intermediaries; and Agriculture.
His marriage to
wife Nancy Muñoz has brought forth four lovely
children. The union serves as an inspiration to him
both in his business and political undertakings. |
