Congressman Erwin L. Chiongbian

Following the footsteps of his parents, Erwin Lopong Chiongbian is the son of former Sarangani Congressman James L. Chiongbian and former Gov. Priscilla L. Chiongbian, whose visionary leadership prodded the development of Sarangani.

Erwin, a blue blooded Atenean during his elementary days, finished secondary school at Baguio Military Institute and finished his college at the University of Santa Clara, USA. He also finished his Management Course at the University of the East.

Before entering politics, he served as president of the family-owned Eastern Shipping Lines from 1963 to 2001. He is also the president of Kling Plantation Company, Inc.

Congressman Chiongbian is affiliated with different organizations. He is the director of Filipino Shipowner’s Association and member of the Association of Foundations and Rotary Club of Metro Sarangani 2000.

Awarded as the “Most Outstanding Neophyte Congressman for 2001,” Erwin functions in various committees as vice chairman for Committee on Transportation and Communication and member of the Committee on Appropriation; Ways and Means; Trade and Industry; Public Works; Banks and Financial Intermediaries; and Agriculture.

His marriage to wife Nancy Muñoz has brought forth four lovely children. The union serves as an inspiration to him both in his business and political undertakings.
