“Tatang,”
as he is fondly called, is one among the few who have
served the government for no less than 40 years. With
the support of his loving wife Orlanda and their
children -- Margie, Renato, and Arnulfo -- he hurdled
all odds to become an exemplary public servant.
In the 1960’s,
he was already in public service as a promoted in the
Police Department. Later, he was promoted as Chief of
Police, then, he became Municipal Mayor of Maitum for
six (6) years. In 1970, he was appointed as the
Provincial Board Member of Koronadal, South Cotabato.
In 1971-1980 he was elected for the same position.
Wanting to
focus his service to his own municipality, he decided
to go back and again became the Municipal Mayor for
eighteen (18) years. In the 1998 elections, he was
forced to run as municipal councilor due to the legal
provisions that limits elected officials to only three
consecutive terms for the same elective position. It
was a blessing in disguise though since he rose to
become the President of Sarangani Chapter and
Ex-Officio member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.
His
constituents in the 1st
district were convinced of his sterling
performance, thus electing him as their Provincial
Board Member during the last elections.
“Tatang”
will always be remembered dearly not only as a
competent politician but more so as a caring and
conscientious public servant.
